Introduction
LMQ Rides is currently advancing a custom 84-seat single-deck carousel project for a commercial mall in Bolivia, a development that is attracting attention across the amusement equipment industry.
The project is expected to become the world’s largest fully rideable single-deck carousel after final installation and commissioning are completed.
Unlike super-large carousel structures primarily used for display or decoration, the Bolivian project is a truly passenger-carrying super-large indoor carousel, not just a purely ornamental one.
The project combines traditional carousel animals with customized themed seating developed specifically for the client’s indoor commercial venue.
LMQ Rides Sets a New Milestone in Single-Deck Indoor Carousel Design
For years, it has been a widely held belief within the amusement industry that single-deck carousels—specifically those designed for full passenger capacity—face significant inherent limitations regarding their physical dimensions.
As passenger capacity and platform diameter increase, most large-scale carousel projects typically tend to pivot toward a double-deck structural design; this approach serves to alleviate engineering and construction pressures while simultaneously simplifying operational complexities.
However, this particular project in Bolivia—rather than adopting a double-deck configuration—steadfastly adhered to the client’s request for a purely single-deck layout, all while successfully delivering full passenger operational capabilities on a massive scale.
This achievement stands as one of the primary reasons why this project has garnered such widespread attention throughout the industry.
Why Large Rideable Single-Deck Carousels Are So Difficult
As single-deck carousel structures become larger, engineering requirements increase rapidly.
Higher passenger capacity creates greater structural pressure on the rotating platform, while larger diameters place greater demands on operational stability, rotational balance, and drive system performance.
At the same time, indoor commercial environments require smoother operation, precise installation, controlled passenger circulation, and long-term reliability under continuous daily operation.
Because of these combined challenges, many manufacturers remain cautious when approaching oversized single-deck carousel projects intended for real passenger operation.
According to the client, multiple suppliers had been consulted before cooperation with LMQ Rides began, but many considered the project too difficult because of the engineering complexity involved.
LMQ Rides Advances Customized Engineering Development
To support the oversized structure and 84-passenger capacity, LMQ Rides carried out a dedicated redesign of multiple engineering systems throughout the project.
The company upgraded the platform structure, optimized load distribution, reinforced key support areas, and improved the balance of the rotating system to support smoother long-term operation.
The drive system was also upgraded to support larger operational loads while reducing long-term mechanical stress during startup and continuous rotation.
Because of the project’s dimensions, the carousel structure was redesigned into modular sections to simplify international transportation and improve installation efficiency inside the shopping mall environment.
The project reflects LMQ Rides’ ability to develop customized engineering solutions for large-scale amusement equipment with complex commercial operating requirements.
Extensive Testing Before Final Delivery
LMQ Rides has more than 40 years of amusement equipment manufacturing experience and maintains a long-term zero major safety accident record.
For the Bolivia project, testing standards have been strengthened further due to the unusually large single-deck structure and high passenger capacity.
During production, the carousel continues undergoing repeated rounds of structural inspection, operational simulation, rotational testing, and system evaluation.
Before delivery, the equipment will complete empty-load testing, half-load testing, full-load operational testing, rotational stability inspection, and continuous operation testing.
These procedures are intended to ensure operational stability, ride smoothness, passenger safety, and long-term reliability under commercial operating conditions.
The Project Reflects Growing Demand for Landmark Indoor Attractions
Large indoor amusement attractions are becoming increasingly important for shopping malls, tourism destinations, and family entertainment centers seeking stronger visitor engagement and recognizable visual landmarks.
Compared with traditional small indoor rides, large carousel attractions can serve both as family entertainment equipment and as visual centerpieces within commercial spaces.
The Bolivia project reflects this growing demand for customized indoor attractions capable of combining passenger capacity, visual impact, and long-term commercial operation within a single installation.
